My practice explores the relationship between digital precision and intuitive, rule-based mark-making.
The motifs in my paintings are not intended to be understood in a literal sense. Their origins often emerge through circumstance, chance, or discovery, existing in a space between figuration and abstraction.
I frequently use stencils—cut either by hand or digitally—to create forms and motifs that recur across multiple works. These forms, once discovered, are often recycled and recontextualised in different paintings.
I experiment with various paint application techniques, with or without stencils, to explore the material qualities of paint and the expressive possibilities of colour. My work avoids narrative, offering instead constructed visual spaces for the viewer to explore and interpret, rather than “read.”
